Raft of Stillness grew from an interest in the tension between our own inner voice and the constant influence of the world around us.

The cat, a resilient animal, rests alone upon an isolated iceberg, suspended between reflection and survival. Around it, the lion represents the noise of the world, while the fox represents the pull of other people's expectations and agendas. Together they speak to the many voices that compete for our attention and shape the way we think and live.

​

Above them, the homing birds suggest the possibility of returning to ourselves. Their presence hints at the need for stillness and perspective in a world that constantly demands our attention.

​

The work reflects on the importance of creating space between ourselves and the noise around us. It is often only in moments of stillness that we begin to recognise which voices belong to others, and which one truly belongs to us.
