Raft of Stillness

In “Raft of Stillness,” the cat rests upon an isolated iceberg, suspended between reflection and survival. It represents the self — watchful, self-contained, and momentarily apart from the turbulence that surrounds it.
The roaring lion echoes the relentless noise of the world, while the fox, half-emerged from mist, suggests the subtle pull of others’ intentions and expectations.
Above them, swallows and homing birds carve a delicate counterpoint — their flight a symbol of orientation and return. They guide the gaze, and the spirit, back toward stillness. The painting becomes a meditation on boundaries: where self ends and the outside begins, and how easily one is blurred by distraction.
Rendered in soft, fluid blues, “Raft of Stillness” invites quiet observation — a pause between sound and silence, where one might finally hear the steady voice beneath the noise.
