REGRET Phase I
Suspended in the Past

Regret — Phase I: Suspended in the Past captures a state in which time has already moved on, yet the mind remains fixed within it through internal dialogue.
A marionette-like figure hangs inside a broken hourglass, suspended by fine threads that extend beyond the visible structure. Seen from behind and turned away from the present, the figure remains entirely oriented toward what has already been.
The cracked hourglass and spilled sand suggest that time has continued without him, marking the divide between reality and the self-contained mental space he continues to inhabit.
The strings introduce a quiet ambiguity. They imply the possibility of control, yet no visible force is being exerted. The suspension appears both imposed and accepted, reflecting how regret can hold a person in place without resistance.
This work reflects the earliest phase of regret — not yet driven by urgency or correction, but shaped by a quiet detachment from the present.
