unexpected implications

Unexpected Implications grew from an interest in the subtle ways control can emerge within intimate relationships.
The bird, traditionally a symbol of freedom, is bound by a fine golden thread threaded through its beak and tethered to a needle. What appears delicate is, in fact, restrictive, limiting expression and autonomy.
The golden thread and the ring allude to the complexities of commitment: love and union on one hand, and the potential for manipulation or restraint on the other. The needle introduces a duality—it can mend, but it can also pierce and bind.
The work reflects on how acts of love and devotion can sometimes carry unexpected implications, revealing the delicate balance between intimacy, autonomy and freedom.
