unintended ENTANGLEMENT

Unintended Entanglement explores the fragile balance between love, control, and freedom within human relationships. The imagery of a bird—traditionally a symbol of liberation—struggling against delicate yet unyielding threads reflects the invisible bonds that can hold us captive.
These threads, tethered to a thorned heart, embody the contradictions of attachment: love intertwined with pain, care entwined with constraint.
In this work, the heart is both anchor and snare, suggesting how intimacy can sometimes shift into control, leaving one party restrained while yearning to break free.
The stark monochrome palette emphasises the starkness of this struggle, while the open space surrounding the figures underscores isolation and vulnerability.
By rendering the conflict in such visceral symbolism, the work invites viewers to reflect on the dynamics of their own connections—how easily care can transform into control, and how the pursuit of freedom often comes with emotional cost.
